After getting numerous feedback from a few clients on their (somewhat) bad experiences with this surge protector from China, I decided to “borrow” one to test it out myself. Hence this Witeem 12 outlet surge protector review is entirely based on my experience working with it for a few days.

First Impression: Look and Feel

Upon checking out this recently purchased 12-outlet surge protector which is barely 3 weeks old, the first thing that caught my eye was its sleek and refined design. This Witeem power strip comes in a stylish black color (there is also a white color model) and its fire-retardant housing has a sturdy construction, providing a smooth and satisfying feel when held in my hands.

Personally, I really like the aesthetic part of the exterior design.

Witeem Power Strip with bubble wrapThis 4360 joules surge protector was in a bubble-wrapped condition when I took it out from the box and every part of it looks brand new. The 6-foot power cord encased in high-purity copper wire further reinforced the notion of decent average quality.

I took it to my garage where there is quite a fair number of spare electronic devices that I can test on. I plan to test 3 key areas which are outlets, USB port charging, and wall-mounting among other things.

In a Nutshell Review
  • The clamping voltage of this unit is 600 volts which is outside the preferred range.
  • Encountered difficulty in plugging my devices into a couple of outlets, some amounts of force has to be exerted due to the somewhat misaligned child safety plastic within the outlets. I believe this could have been a batch manufacturing fault.
  • Wall-mounting this unit was a challenge as the holes of the mounting slots are not properly cut out, and the head of my screws could hardly fit into the mounting slots.

*The outlet plug insertion and wall-mounting challenges that I had was probably due to the batch manufacturing faults so your experience in these areas may vary.

8.1Expert Score
Witeem 12 Outlet Surge Protector

For the most part, this 12 outlet surge protection device does deliver great joules ratings and basic surge protection capabilities. If you do not mind going through the hassle of exchanging it should you encounter some of the above issues (which might be rare, evidently so based on the 20k+ great reviews it has on Amazon).

 Core Features and Benefits

4 USB Ports

One of the highlights for me was the inclusion of 4 USB charging ports. Equipped with smart charging technology, these ports automatically detect plugged-in devices and deliver a charging speed of up to 12W (5V/2.4A) per port.

Witeem SPD Plug-in test

With a total output of 6A/30W, I was able to juice up most of my USB devices concurrently. The charging speed is definitely not the fast but acceptable in my opinion, it took about 30 mins to an hour to fully charge up my running watch, Netgear router, portable battery, and my spare Android phone. The phone was the last to get fully charged and it took about 55 mins from 15% to 100%.

Joules Rating

Besides the clamping voltage, the second most important criterion for me when I check out any surge protectors is their ability (Joules Ratings) to safeguard electrical devices against power spikes and fluctuations. The Witeem power strip shines in this area with its impressive 4360 joules ratings and overload protection system. The fire-retardant casing, which is lightweight and capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1382℉ (750℃), is another plus in my book.

12 Outlets

Tight sockets of Witeem SPD

Having 12 outlets can be one heck of a convenience for people (like me) who have lots of electrical appliances. Although the outlets are not spaced out to accommodate big plugs, it doesn’t really bother me. I had 2 appliances (an old color printer and a very very old CRT monitor) in the garage which come with big plugs and I was able to plug them in at the corner sockets (sacrificed 2 outlets). With the remaining 8 empty slots, I ended up using 6 of them for testing purposes. Due to the safety cover plastic misalignment, I did have to use some strength to push the plugs in.

Minor Flaws – What to Expect

No product is without its pain points. While the Witeem power strip delivers on many fronts, I did find the size of the strip slightly bulky. It measures 11.6 x 4.1 x 1.2 inches, which may not fit seamlessly in some tight corners of the house or office.

Due to the manufacturing fault, I had a tough time trying to mount it onto the wall and was unable to hook the screw heads into the mounting holes behind the device. It is perfectly fine if you do not require its wall mounting feature.

Who Should Buy It?

If you are looking for an affordable surge protection device that offers high joule ratings, and lots of outlets alongside reasonable surge protection capabilities, this Witeem surge protector should be shortlisted for consideration. For gaming enthusiasts, this surge protector is a good candidate to double up as a surge protector for your gaming electronics and gadgets.

Who Should NOT Buy It?

Do not buy this surge protector if you are planning to use it for kitchen appliances like fridges or washing machines, AC units, etc. If the area in which you are using it has only a few appliances, you should just get one with lesser outlets.

Is The Price Reasonable?

With 12 outlets and 4360 Joules ratings, the current price point is definitely a steal minus the manufacturing faults which affect a very very small batch of the product.

Sentiments on Witeem 12 Outlet Surge Protector

When I write product reviews, I always like to take into account the experiences of other customers. The Witeem 12 outlet surge protector has garnered lots of positive feedback, with an average customer rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. This speaks volumes about its reliability and customer satisfaction.

Obviously, there is always a very small handful of people who receive a faulty batch (like the one I am testing with that comes with unmountable keyholes and misaligned safety cover plastic that make it challenging to plug in devices)

Final Thoughts

All-in-all, the Witeem 12 outlet surge protector is a commendable surge protector that truly lives up to its promise of powering your safety. Its sleek design, durable build, and extensive features make it a standout choice for both home and office use. Its decently fast USB ports, mountable design, and all-around protection ensure convenience, organization, and peace of mind.

While it may have some manufacturing faults which I mentioned above (which are rare considering the huge numbers of positive reviews on Amazon), the benefits it offers outweigh these minor inconveniences. Overall, my personal opinion is that the Witeem 12 Outlet Power Strip is a reliable and efficient power solution that caters to your diverse charging needs

Its blend of functionality, safety features, and stylish design makes it an ideal choice for both home and office use. The 4 x decently fast charging USB ports, comprehensive surge protection, and the convenience of multiple outlets make this power strip a versatile companion for all your power needs.
